Stephen and Peter

 

Meet Stephen and Peter. They live in Dresden, Germany where Peter is a Sales Manager working at his family owned company and Stephen spends the week in Berlin where he is a PhD candidate working in cancer research. They met unexpectedly in Dresden while Stephen was on holiday travelling through Germany. They've been together over 8 years and married for 7, and can't wait to add a child to their family.

"Both Peter’s and Stephen’s family have whole-heartedly supported us since the beginning of our journey. Peter’s parents want more than anything to welcome their first grandchild into the world and have offered to help on our journey in any way they can. When we speak of our plans to grow our family their faces light up and there is no doubt in our minds that they will make excellent grandparents. Stephen’s family is also highly supportive and both his mother and sister have provided us with the courage and confidence to move forward in our journey. Without them it would have been much more difficult to come so far in our journey to parenthood. Our close circle of friends has also been behind us every step of the way. Most of them already have children of their own and we are already looking forward to seeing all of our kids grow and develop together."

Quick overview on a few things you need to know about becoming a surrogate in Canada: 

  • You must be a female of 21-49 years of age

  • Have delivered one or more child(ren) of your own

  • Have experienced healthy pregnancies and births

  • Lead a healthy lifestyle and be physically/mentally healthy in general

Surrogates in Canada are: 

  • Reimbursed all of their expenses. (average $20,000-30,000)

  • Can apply for 15 weeks of maternity leave (if eligible)

  • Have independent legal representation and a legal contract

  • Will travel to the Intended Parents clinic - all costs covered
